Brief Intro

Born in Brownsville, Texas, and raised in Seymour, Ind., William P. Deschner joined Lutheran Medical Group in January 2011 when his former group, Indiana Ohio Heart, joined LMG. Prior to joining IOH, Dr. Deschner was a cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Mich. Dr. Deschner earned a bachelor's degree from Wabash College and a medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine, where he was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He completed general and cardiothoracic surgery residencies at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis in 1985. Dr. Deschner, who serves as director of the practice's noninvasive vascular laboratory, led the charge for lab accreditation through the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories. In addition, he attends numerous clinical conferences annually to help ensure the most current surgical techniques are offered to LMG patients. Dr. Deschner, who is a clinical assistant professor at the Indiana University School of Medicine, is a diplomate of the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. He is also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the American College of Cardiology and the American College of Chest Physicians. He is a member of the International Society for Cardiovascular Surgery, the American Venous Forum and the Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery.
