Alan C. Peterson, MD, a cardio-thoracic surgeon with Lutheran Medical Group, sees patients as part of CMH's Specialty Clinics. Dr. Peterson assisted in the development of northeastern Indiana's cardiac surgery and transplant programs. Prior to that, he served as assistant professor of thoracic surgery at the University of Michigan Medical Center and as chief of cardiothoracic surgery at the Ann Arbor Veterans' Administration Medical Center. He also served as the senior registrar in cardiothoracic surgery at Great Ormand Street Hospital for Sick Children in London. In 1986, Dr. Peterson was one of 15 investigators worldwide in the experimental Jarvik-7 artificial heart program, and he was on the team that implanted northern Indiana's first artificial heart in 1987.
