Dr. Kakani received his medical degree from Rangaraya Medical College in Andhra Pradesh, India in 1981. He was a Postdoctoral Associate in research at The Rockefeller University in New York, New York, after which he completed his training in Internal Medicine, as well as his fellowship in Cardiology, at Catholic Medical Center in Jamaica, New York. Dr. Kakani also completed a fellowship in Critical Care at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York before coming to the Hampton Roads area in 1995.
Dr. Kakani is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, and is Assistant Professor of Clinical Internal Medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School.
Dr. Kakani’s primary areas of interest include all aspects of cardiology, with special emphasis on non-invasive cardiology, to include echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, and cardiac CT.
