Dr. Leland McCluskey, director of the St. Francis Foot and Ankle Center and chief of orthopaedic surgery at St. Francis Hospital, has practiced orthopaedic surgery in Columbus since 1992. He specializes in general orthopaedics and foot and ankle surgery.
After receiving his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Ga., Dr. McCluskey completed his orthopaedic residency at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, La. Dr. McCluskey joined The Hughston Clinic in Columbus after completing an orthopaedic foot and ankle fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wis. In 2001, he and his brother, Dr. George McCluskey III, formed McCluskey Orthopaedic Surgery. Now, both physicians are part of the St. Francis Orthopaedic Institute.
He is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, the Medical Association of Georgia, the Georgia Orthopaedic Society and several other medical societies. He has published four book chapters and fourteen scientific articles and has delivered over fifty lectures and research presentations, regionally and nationally.
Dr. McCluskey previously served as chief of orthopaedic surgery at The Medical Center and was also the medical director of orthopaedics for the Children’s Medical Services Clinic in Columbus from 1993-2002. Currently, he serves on the board of trustees at the St. Francis Foundation, Brookstone School and the Boys Club and is active on the administrative board at St. Luke United Methodist Church. Dr. McCluskey has also worked in Kijabe, Kenya as a short-term medical missionary.
