Dr. Jeffrey E. Thomas, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Stroke Shield Foundation, is a cerebrovascular neurosurgeon with special expertise and interest in stroke. His private neurosurgical practice is based at Washington Hospital in Fremont, California.
One of very few neurosurgeons in the United States with dual expertise in microsurgery and Interventional Neuroradiology (microcatheter-based minimally invasive brain blood vessel surgery), Dr. Thomas earned both his undergraduate and medical degrees at Columbia University in New York, and completed his internship and neurosurgical residency training at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center and the University of Southern California, respectively. He completed his fellowship in Interventional Neuroradiology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, and his research fellowship at the Cardiovascular Research Center of Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School in Boston.
He is an active member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, The Joint Section of Cerebrovascular Surgery of the AANS and CNS, and the Society of Neurointerventional Surgeons. He is the author of over 100 peer-reviewed scientific abstracts and publications, and 7 patents for medical devices and pharmaceuticals.
