I was born and raised in Southern California. After completing my degree in biochemistry at UC San Diego, I went on to earn my medical degree at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. I completed my general surgery training at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. During that time, I discovered my affinity for the field of oncology. I dedicated two years of my training to research in pancreatic cancer. Following completion of my residency, my young family and I moved to Tampa, Florida, for a two-year fellowship in surgical oncology. After so many years away from home, I was excited to return to San Diego and join the department of surgery at Kaiser Permanente.
