I was born in Japan, while my father was stationed there with the Army. After living there and in many parts of the U.S., my father retired from the Army and we moved to his hometown of San Diego. I went to high school in San Diego and then moved away for college and medical school. After completing my surgical training, I was in private practice for 10 years. In 2009, I had the opportunity to relocate back to San Diego and join Kaiser Permanente.
