Dr. Susan Gauthier earned her DO degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her neurology residency at Boston University Medical Center, where she served as Chief Resident. Following her residency, Dr. Gauthier was awarded a prestigious three-year National Multiple Sclerosis Society Clinical Trial Training Fellowship, which she completed at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. She also earned an MPH from the Harvard School of Public Health. Upon joining the clinical team at the Weill Cornell Multiple Sclerosis Center (WCMSC) at Weill Cornell Medical College, Dr. Gauthier was named a Feil Family Clinical Scholar. She currently serves as the Director of Clinical Research at the MS Center. Dr. Gauthier established the clinical research infrastructure at WCMSC, fostering a highly productive collaboration with the Department of Radiology. Her research focuses on translating novel quantitative imaging techniques to identify biological mechanisms and therapeutic targets in multiple sclerosis. She has a particular interest in quantifying myelin and inflammation and using imaging to explore cognitive dysfunction in MS. Her expertise spans both quantitative MRI and Positron Emission Tomography (PET). Dr. Gauthier has received research funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS), and several pharmaceutical companies. She is an active mentor to post-doctoral candidates, residents, and research fellows in her research program. As part of a dedicated clinical team at the Weill Cornell MS Center, Dr. Gauthier is committed to delivering the highest standard of care to patients with MS.
