Tell us what makes you passionate about being a healthcare provider.
I have been a nurse practitioner for over 7 years and have enjoyed every minute of it. My passion is in patient education and assisting patients in achieving their health and wellness goals which in turn improves their quality of life. My goal is to address health on all levels - physical, mental and emotional.
In your opinion, what should be the role of a primary care provider for a patient, taking into account both physical health and behavioral health needs?
The role of the primary care provider for patient care is to listen to the patient’s needs in a therapeutic manner. Primary care providers must listen to the patient in order to develop a treatment plan centered around the patient’s preferences. Together through effective communication, a treatment plan can be initiated with the goal of improving patient outcomes.
Tell us a little bit about yourself. What do you like to do in your spare time?
I am married with four children and two grandchildren. I love to read, listen to music, travel with my family and tend to my plants. Participating in activities to improve my mental health is essential, therefore, I meditate daily, write in my journal and limit my exposure to social media.
