Jessica Rieder, MD, a board-certified specialist in adolescent medicine, is Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She is founder and Director of the Bronx Nutrition and Fitness Initiative for Teens (B’N Fit) weight management program, a joint venture between The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore and the Mosholu Montefiore Community Center.Dr. Rieder earned her bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from the University of Alberta in 1990 and her MD degree with honors in research from the same university in 1994. She completed her clinical training, including pediatric residency, chief residency and adolescent medicine fellowship, at The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore. She joined the pediatric faculty at Einstein and Montefiore upon completion of her fellowship in 2001. In 2003 Dr. Rieder earned a master’s degree in clinical research from Albert Einstein College of Medicine.Dr. Rieder’s academic interests include adolescent obesity and its complications, in particular, ovarian hyperandrogenism or polycystic ovary syndrome. As Director of the B’N Fit Program, she oversees a clinical and research team of physicians, a nutritionist, a social worker, and administrative and support staff. Dr. Rieder is funded through the Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration, the New York State Health Foundation and private foundations to conduct short- and long-term effectiveness evaluations of the B’N Fit program.
