Prosthodontists are specialists in the restoration and replacement of teeth who receive additional training after dental school. It is presently a three year program accredited by the American Dental Association (ADA). The program is a rigorous one, whose purpose is to understand the dynamics of the smile, the creation of tooth replacements and the preservation of dental health.
The prosthodontist will consider your facial structure and the present condition of your teeth and gums to create a custom made smile that is both visually pleasing and very functional as well. Your results will look natural and beautiful. Prosthodontists work on patients of all ages. Modern materials and procedures as well as better aesthetics make the transformation of your smile a more comfortable and less intimidating experience.
Prosthodontist are especially trained to treat full mouth rehabilitation cases where there is a major deterioration problem with badly decayed/damaged teeth and gum disease with bone loss. Prosthodontists are the best specialists to put the mouth together by rebuilding the broken down teeth with veneers/laminates, onlays or caps and replacing the missing ones with implants, permanent fixed bridges or dentures that can also be secured by implants. All this can be done while re-establishing the proper occlusion (bite) and jaw relationships to protect the TMJ (the jaw joints) from damage.Â
