Dr. William Higgs attended Louisiana Tech University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in zoology and chemistry. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He obtained his general and vascular surgical training under the direction of Dr. Michael E. DeBakey. He continued his training in thoracic and cardiovascular surgery at Emory University College of Medicine. Dr. Higgs is a diplomate of the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, American College of Chest Physicians and American College of Cardiology and holds a certificate of special qualification in vascular surgery.
