William B. Orenberg, M. D. is a board certified Ophthalmologist, who grew up in the Boston area and attended Harvard College, graduating cum laude in Biology. He received his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine followed by internship and residency in Ophthalmology at Albany Medical Center Hospital. He completed a fellowship in cornea and external disease at the University of Rochester before performing the first outpatient corneal transplant on the North Shore early in practice.
He has been in private practice on the North Shore since 1985 and has enjoyed integrating new technologies in ophthalmic surgery over the course of his career. These including small incision cataract surgery, toric and multifocal intraocular lenses and , over the past few years, the use of Femtosecond laser to assist in cataract surgery. These developments have enabled patients to have options that reduce their dependence on spectacles. He continues to enjoy practicing general ophthalmology with special emphasis on cataract surgery, medical and laser treatments for glaucoma and diabetes, retinal and macular disorders and routine eye care.
He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, the New England Ophthalmology Society and the Massachusetts Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons. He maintains staff privileges at the North Shore Medical Center, Beverly Hospital (member of Lahey Health) and Surgisite Boston in Waltham.
