Dr. Wade Sexton is the Chief Medical Officer and VicePresident of Medical Affairs at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL.Dr. Sexton obtained his Bachelor of Science degree fromFurman University. Thereafter, he graduated from Emory University School ofMedicine and completed general surgery and urology residency training at WakeForest University Baptist Medical Center. Following residency, Dr. Sexton entered military service and while onactive duty with the United States Air Force completed a Fellowship in UrologicOncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. In 2004, he joined the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa,Florida, where he is a Senior Member in the Department of Genitourinary Oncology.He was the Director of the Society of Urologic Oncology (SUO) accreditedFellowship Program from 2008-2023. Dr. Sexton has held different leadershippositions including Past-President of the Moffitt Medical Staff andPast-President of the Florida Urologic Society. He served on the Board ofDirectors for the SUO and as Chair of the SUO Fellowship Committee. He was along-term member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network's guideline panelfor bladder cancers, and an Assistant Editor for The Journal ofUrology. He served the American Board of Urology (ABU) as a writingmember of the Examination Committee and continues to serve as an oral examinerfor ABU certification. In 2013, he was honored as the MD Anderson Distinguished Urologic Oncology Alumnus, and in 2019 wasrecognized as the Moffitt Cancer Center Physician of the Year named in honor ofthe late Dr. Charles C. Williams, Jr.. In 2024, he received the DistinguishedService Award from the SUO. Dr. Sexton's academic and clinical practiceis focused on bladder, kidney, and advanced testicular malignancies.
