Dr. Gooding was raised in Warwick, R.I., graduated from Middlebury College and then Tufts University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, and the University of Chicago, and later became board certified in Emergency Medicine. He trained in orthopedics at the Brown University/Rhode Island Hospital program and then did a fellowship in hand surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. He started his practice in 1989. In 1992 he and Dr. Yakavonis helped establish West Bay Orthopedics with a goal of providing excellence in both general and subspecialty orthopedic care. Dr. Gooding’s interests included injuries and disorders of the hand, wrist, and elbow; arthritis of the knee and hip; and foot and ankle problems.
