Consistently selected as one of the best pulmonary specialists in the North Texas area, Dr. Timothy Chappell, MD is a board-certified critical care expert specializing in all pulmonary and lung conditions. He is also a sleep expert who analyzes, diagnoses and treats sleep disorders. Using advanced state-of-the-art medical techniques, Dr. Chappell strives to offer patients the best in pulmonary medical care so that they can lead normal, healthy and pain-free lives. Dr. Chappell graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine and was awarded Summa Cum Laude; he later moved to Dallas, Texas for post-graduate training. He did his internship and residency in Internal Medicine and a Fellowship in Pulmonary Medicine at UT Southwestern. Later, he was appointed to the faculty of UT Southwestern Medical School as an Assistant Professor of Medicine. In addition to teaching at Parkland Hospital in Dallas and providing clinical research at the medical school there, he also served as Medical Director of Respiratory Care and Assistant Chief of Pulmonary at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Dallas. Dr. Chappell's research at the Medical School has been published in numerous professional journals and he has been an invited lecturer for prestigious organizations such as the American Thoracic Society, the American Federation of Clinical Research, the American Heart Association and the American Lung Association. Dr. Chappell established his practice in Plano in 1985. He is a past Chief of the Medical Staff at The Medical Center of Plano where he also served on the hospital Board of Trustees. He is currently Medical Director of Critical Care and Respiratory Care at The Medical Center of Plano. In addition, he is Medical Director of Respiratory Care at Collin County Community College.
