As an orthopaedic surgeon I enjoy the relationships that I have with my patients. I listen to the problems they have and the challenges that they face. I explain what to reasonably expect from each treatment option that is available to them. I ask myself what I would choose if I faced this decision for myself as well as what I would recommend to a family member if they were facing the same challenge in this setting. I can then help the patient choose a treatment option that they understand and are comfortable with.
