Brief Intro

After receiving his undergraduate degree from The Colorado College, Dr. Hackett attended the University of Wyoming and finished his medical degree at Creighton University School of Medicine. He then completed a general surgery internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at the New England Medical Center at Tufts University. He also pursued a sports medicine fellowship at the Kerlan-Jobe Clinic in Los Angeles. During his fellowship, Dr. Hackett specialized in knee, shoulder and elbow surgery. He also served as an assistant team physician to the LA Lakers, Sparks, Dodgers, Kings, Ducks and Galaxy professional sports teams. Dr. Hackett is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. , he has conducted research in shoulder, elbow and knee surgery and has presented his research at national and international conferences. He is the author of articles in peer-reviewed medical journals and of various book chapters. Dr. Hackett is the head team physician for the US Snowboard Team, assistant physician to the Colorado Rockies (MLB), the medical director of the American Mountain Guide Association, the medical director of the US Rafting Team, and the medical advisor for the Boulder Outdoor Survival School. He is also a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, the Wilderness Medical Society and the Arthroscopy Association of North America.
