Brief Intro

Dr. Steele graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, completed an Internship in Medicine at University Hospitals of Cleveland (now Case-Western Reserve Medical Center), and was Resident in Psychiatry and Chief Resident in Psychiatry at Stanford University Medical Center. He fulfilled his military service obligation in the Public Health Service at NIH, and received his MPH degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health. Following his residency he was an Assistant, and then Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the Yale University School of Medicine, where he was Director of the Dana Clinic and Director of Undergraduate Education in the Yale Department. He subsequently was Associate Professor, Professor, and now Professor Emeritus in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences of the Medical University of South Carolina, where he served as the Director of the Residents Outpatient Clinic. His research has led to publications in the areas of medical student and resident education, psychological adaptation to chronic renal disease, psychopharmacology, and integration of psychotherapy and psychopharmacology; he is the author of the book, \"Outpatient Psychiatry: A Beginner's Guide,\" published by WW Norton. His clinical practice of adult psychiatry includes psychiatric assessment, psychotherapy, and psychopharmacology. His particular interests include time-sensitive, solution-oriented psychotherapy, and the psychotherapeutic and pharmacologic treatment of mood disorders.
