Dr. Samala joined Cary Gastroenterology in 2010 as our Laboratory Director and Pathologist, opening our own on site pathology lab. Dr. Samala graduated from American University of the Caribbean, in Montserrat, British West Indies, and obtained her medical training at Old Church Hospital in Romford England, and the University of Tennessee, Memphis. Continuing on to the University of North Carolina, Dr. Samala conducted her Fellowship in both Surgical Pathology and Cytopathology. Dr. Samala has held the positions of Laboratory Consultant and Medical Education Instructor and Pathology Laboratory Inspector for the College of American Pathologists. Just prior to joining Cary Gastroenterology, Dr. Samala was employed with LabCorp as a Pathologist.
Having a Board Certified Pathologist on site is a valuable means of ensuring quality care, and the quick turn around of results. One of the greatest "behind the scenes" benefits of having a full time, dedicated pathologist on site, is the personal interaction between your physician and Dr. Samala. Working together, Dr. Samala and our physician team provide the highest quality care in a very efficient, and compassionate manner. Cary Gastroenterology is proud to be one of the only Gastroenterology Practices with its own onsite, physician directed pathology lab.
