Dr. Lewis has worked in the field of Internal Medicine for the past two decades. She trained in Oregon and chose to stay in Oregon following her training. She considers herself a native Oregonian, having attended Meadow Park Junior High and Sunset High School in the Beaverton area after her parents relocated to Portland from Montana when she was only 12 years old. She chose the field of Internal Medicine in order to build relationships with her patients so that she could foster change towards ideal health. She believes in a collaborative approach to her patient’s health through medical resources that may include input from other practitioners such as Physical Therapists, integrative practitioners and other specialists. She feels that the human body is a collection of a sum of its parts and that mental health also plays an extremely important role in one’s well being.
Dr. Lewis has practiced in the Portland area since completing her residency in the mid 90’s. She attended Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington, majoring in Biology. She served three years in the US Army after graduating from Whitman as a Chemical Officer and later transferred to the Oregon National Guard where she completed over 20 years of service. She also worked in the field of Nuclear Medicine as a medical technologist for several years, eventually returning to medical school in order to achieve her dream of becoming a physician. She received her medical degree from OHSU and completed her internship and residency at Portland Legacy Hospital Program in Internal Medicine. She has worked as a general Internist for the past 18 years in the Portland area.
Dr. Lewis will be joining SendantHealth in February 2015 and is looking forward to spending more time with her patients in a less rushed setting. Outside of her medical duties, Dr. Lewis is an avid quilter and likes to swim and take part in water aerobics. She is also active in her local church in the Wilsonville area.
