Dr. John grew up in Florida where he completed medical school at the University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine. From there he went on to complete general psychiatry residency training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He has been trained extensively in hospital based psychiatry and clinic psychiatric management in addiction treatment, mood disorders, trauma related disorders, community mental health and psychotic illness. He has published research in areas ranging from medication safety to hospital based quality improvement. He has a strong passion for both medical trainee and patient education, to promote better understanding of mental health and building skills for mental well-being.
