Sheetal Patel, MD, FACS, is a board certified general surgeon and fellowship trained bariatric surgeon.Dr. Patel performs a wide range of general surgical procedures using laparoscopic (minimally invasive) techniques. She uses the Da Vinci Robotic System to perform robotic weight loss procedures, foregut surgeries (hiatal hernia and paraesophageal hernia repairs), abdominal wall hernia repairs, and gallbladder removals.Dr. Patel is a leader in the field of robotic surgery and has been performing robotic procedures since 2012. As a Da Vinci Robotic System proctor, she instructs other surgeons in mastering the robotic platform. She has been honored with D magazine’s “Best Doctor” and “Best Doctor in Collin County” recognition yearly since 2016. She is currently the Medical Director of Bariatrics at Baylor Scott and White Hospital Frisco. Dr. Patel graduated from Baylor University and went on to receive her medical degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. She completed her residency training in general surgery at the University of Illinois Metropolitan Group Hospitals in Chicago, Illinois. As a resident physician, she was the recipient of the MVP Physician Excellence Award from the Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. She received further specialized training at Cleveland Clinic Florida where she completed the Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery fellowship program.She is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, and the Texas Medical Association.Dr. Patel is married with two children. She enjoys reading, baking, sewing, and traveling.
