Sharlene G. Martin, D.M.D. Dr. Sharlene Martin (Dr. Shari) was born in Mission Viejo, California. But being part of a military family, she soon called Beaufort, South Carolina, her home. Dr. Martin received her Bachelor of Science Degree from the College of Charleston.  She completed her Doctorate of Dental Medicine Degree from the Medical University of South Carolina, College of Dental Medicine in Charleston, South Carolina. Participating in numerous research projects, she was presented the prestigious Oral Biology Award for Distinguished Research. As an active member of her community, Dr. Martin volunteers her time   performing dental screenings for the Head Start program, and in community outreach programs, such as Health Reach, that are focused on dental education for both parents and children. She is also an active member of the Kiwanis Club. Dr. Martin's professional organizations include: The American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, South Carolina Dental Association, Pee Dee Dental Society, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry as an affiliate member, International Association of Dental Research, Medical University of South Carolina Alumni Association and the College of Charleston Alumni Association. Dr. Martin has hospital privileges at Tuomey Regional Medical Center, Sumter, S.C.
