Dr. SHAKIRA SHANKER, MD is a Board Certified Neurologist with expertise in Clinical Neurophysiology and Neuromuscular Neurology. Dr. Shanker completed her fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology where she was trained extensively in neurophysiology, electronics, nerve conduction studies, electromyography, single fiber EMG, motor unit analysis and disorders of the neuromuscular junction. She was also educated and trained in muscular dystrophies, genetics, and myopathies. Furthermore, she was trained in epilepsy and the care of patients with epilepsy.Her practice at North Suffolk Neurology is a full-service Neurology, Headache Medicine, and Sleep Medicine practice with highly specialized providers who treat neurological disorders for Migraines, Multiple Sclerosis, and Epilepsy and Seizures for both children and adults. Dr. Shanker holds certifications in Botox therapy and neuromuscular ultrasound. She has an advanced approach to neuromuscular medicine utilizing ultrasound guided techniques. She has been known for her unique personalized and compassionate approach to patient care. She adjusts her management of neurological conditions based off the needs of the patient utilizing both westernized and traditional medicine.
