Dr. Kumer received his MD from the University of Vermont and his undergraduate and PhD degrees from Wake Forest University. He completed his internship and residency in general surgery at the University of Michigan and a fellowship in transplantation surgery the University of Virginia. After completing his fellowship, he was recruited to remain on the faculty at the University of Virginia in the Transplant Surgery Division.
