Brief Intro

Dr. Powell attended Columbia College where he was one of the founding members of the rock and roll band, Sha Na Na. He performed at the Woodstock Festival, Fillmore East and West, in Europe and Japan, on the syndicated television series, Sha Na Na, and in the movies Woodstock, Grease, and Caddyshack. He left the band in 1980 and returned to Columbia to take premedical courses. He attended Albert Einstein College of Medicine, completed his internship at St. Lukes Roosevelt Hospital and his residency in orthopedics at Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York City. He completed his fellowship in sports medicine at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic in Los Angeles and is board certified. He founded Stetson Powell Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in Burbank. a busy practice in sports medicine, Dr. Powell is active in the Arthroscopy Association of North America, serving as Program Chairman and is on the Board of Directors, the American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He is Team Physician for the US Soccer Womens National Team and is Clinical Professor of Orthopedics at USC Keck School of Medicine. He also volunteers for MusiCares, the outreach arm of the GRAMMY(r) Awards, to provide free healthcare for musicians in need. Dr. Powell is a member of the Providence Saint Joseph Medical Staff providing care in orthopedic surgery.
