Dr. Scot C. Schultz is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Washington and Lee University. After earning his medical degree at the University of Miami, he completed his internship and general surgical residency at Georgetown University Hospital, where he served as chief resident. During his general surgery training, Dr Schultz spent two years developing and testing a blood substitute that would later receive FDA approval for testing in human subjects. Dr. Schultz went on to complete his training in thoracic and cardiovascular surgery at Wake Forest University/Baptist Medical Center, where he also served as chief resident. It was at Wake Forest where Dr. Schultz gained his vast knowledge of the surgical treatment of mitral and aortic valve disease. Dr. Schultz is certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the Southern Thoracic Society. Dr. Schultz has several interests in the field of thoracic and cardiovascular surgery including off pump coronary artery bypass grafting, mitral valve surgery, aortic valve surgery, the surgical treatment of atrial fibrillation, lung cancer surgery and the treatment of hyperhidrosis.
Dr. Schultz has been recognized by his peers as a U.S. News Top Doctor and has been awarded the Compassionate Doctor award by his patients.
Dr. Schultz is the chief of thoracic and cardiovascular surgery at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, SC and director of the cardiovascular recovery unit.
