Dr. Ryan Brown is a Psychiatrist in Texas who has been practicing since 2020. Dr. Brown earned his Bachelor's degree in history from Southwestern University and his medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He completed a residency in general psychiatry at the University of North Carolina Medical Center and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Texas Dell Medical School.
Dr. Brown has experience and specialization in the treatment of acute mental illness, developmental disorders, and integrated whole person mental health care. Dr. Brown has extensive experience with both children and adults with a variety of diagnoses. Most recently he was an assistant professor with the University of Texas Dell Medical School in Austin and the medical director of Pediatric consult psychiatry at Dell Children's Hospital. Here he led an outpatient clinic focused on developmental disorders such as Autism, Trisomy 21, 5p partial monosomy, and other genetic disorders. He also ran a separate general psychiatry clinic focused on the management of acute mental illness and prolonged stabilization for both children and young adults.
Finally, as a consult liaison psychiatrist he has guided the management of psychiatric patients experiencing co-existing physical health issues. Dr. Brown possesses a notable background in both clinical management as well as research. He has multiple publications and has led large research studies focused on depression and trauma. He brings a strong academic background of research validated care combined with a clinical focus on the individual person.
Outside of work, Dr. Brown enjoys time spent being active and outdoors with his family. This includes climbing, mountain biking, hiking, snowboarding, hockey, and surfing.
