A member of the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery at Rancho Bernardo and Torrey Pines, Dr. Thorne graduated from Hahnemann Medical College, Philadelphia, PA, and completed his residency at Hahnemann University Hospital, Philadelphia, PA and his fellowship in Spine Surgery at Hospital for Special Surgery, New York, NY. He began working at Scripps Clinic in 1978 and has developed a large spine service. He has won the Francis West Award for superior teaching with the University of California San Diego Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program.
