Dr. Robert Whelpley M.D. is board-certified in both Child and Adolescent and Adult Psychiatry. He attended Binghamton University for undergraduate studies and completed Medical School at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York. He went on to complete Residency and Fellowship training at University of Rochester. He has worked with patients and families across the life span in a wide spectrum of settings including Inpatient, a variety of outpatient, and emergency settings.
Dr. Whelpley believes in collaborative care between treatment providers, patients, and families. In that frame, we can address the patient’s problems as a team working together toward a common treatment goal. He uses talk therapy including motivational interviewing, cogitative behavioral, mindfulness, and supportive psychotherapeutic approaches in combination with medication management. This combination, sometimes in conjunction with a therapist, works on maximizing mental health and wellness.
