Ophthalmologist and eye surgeon Robert E. Walker, M.D., is one of the founding members of The Eye Centers and The Eye Surgery Center. He has been in private practice in Oak Ridge since 1984.
Dr. Walker graduated from Tennessee Technological University in 1971 with a degree in Chemical Engineering, where he was a member of Tau Beta Pi National Honorary Engineering Society. He then graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in 1974.
His post graduate medical training included an internship at the Naval Regional Medical Center in San Diego, California. He then served as a Flight Surgeon in the U.S. Navy, and was stationed at Naval Air Station in Felion, Nevada. After finishing his service in the Navy, Dr. Walker completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences in Memphis.
Dr. Walker is board certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is active in several professional and educational organizations, including:
