Robert D. Slama, MD, FACC, is Chief of Cardiology at Summit Medical Group and a member of the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center Consultant Medical Staff. Dr. Slama has hospital privileges at Overlook Hospital and Morristown Memorial Hospital. Since joining Summit Medical Group in 1980, Dr. Slama has helped develop leading-edge innovations for the care of his patients. Among his contributions is the Coumadin Care Clinic, which Roche Diagnostics designated as an exemplary Coumadin maintenance facility. The clinic earned the coveted 2003 DREAM Award for outstanding care—a first-time honor for cardiology clinics in the New York metropolitan area. He is certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, echocardiography, and nuclear cardiology. Dr. Slama is listed in Castle Connolly's "Top Doctors in Cardiology for the New York Metropolitan Area," Castle Connolly's "America's Top Doctors," and the 2009 New Jersey Monthly's "Top Doctors." The Consumer Research Council of America lists him in "America's Top Cardiologists." He has been an investigator for several studies in cardiology. A resident of Summit since 1980, Dr. Slama has two grown children. He enjoys a round of golf or a David McCullough biography in his spare time.
