After Robert Steele completed his undergraduate medical education at Oxford University in his native United Kingdom in 1975, he spent the following 12 years in varied graduate-level appointments to finish his training there, from house surgeon at University College Hospital, to senior house officer in surgery at Edgware General Hospital, to the Orthopaedic Training Program at St. Thomas Hospital (all in London). Following a move to the United States and internships and residencies at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, in 1992 he joined First State Orthopaedics, where he specializes in foot and ankle surgery. Dr. Steele is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (U.K.), diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons, fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and member of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He is also an adjunct professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Delaware. From 2001 through 2003, Dr. Steele served as section chief of Orthopaedics at Christiana Care and as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Medical Society of Delaware.
