Dr. Richard Neahring specializes in cataract surgery, laser surgery, refractive surgery and aging-related conditions of the eye. He is an active member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. After earning his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School (Chicago) in 1989, he completed an Internal Medicine internship and Ophthalmology residency at the University of Iowa, Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science. In addition, he completed fellowships in Neuro-ophthalmology and clinical Neuro-electrophysiology at Iowa. Before leaving academics in 1998 to establish his surgical practice at Eye Care Physicians & Surgeons, Dr. Neahring served for two years as a Clinical Fellow Associate in both the departments of Ophthalmology and Neurology at the University of Iowa. Dr. Neahring has also served as president of Marion-Polk Medical Society from 2004 to 2006.
