Regis J. O'Keefe, MD, PhD, is a Professor, Chair of URMC's Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation and a board-certified, fellowship-trained oncologist and orthopaedic surgeon. Dr. O'Keefe cares for patients of all ages with tumors of the bone, muscle, or soft tissues around the skeleton. He is actively involved with oncologists throughout the Western New York region to provide the necessary surgical care for cancer patients. Because many patients entering Dr. O'Keefe's practice are experiencing the most challenging time of their life, his treatment philosophy is to provide the best quality of life possible and instill confidence in his patients that they are getting the best care possible.
Dr. O'Keefe also cares for patients of all ages with fragility fractures from osteoporosis, osteopenia, osteogenesis imperfecta, and low vitamin D. In order to find cures and offer the most cutting-edge treatments for these and other musculoskeletal problems, he also leads an active research team of nearly 70 physicians, biomedical scientist, and graduate and post-doctoral students. Together in the Center for Musculoskeletal Research, this team is the United State's top musculoskeletal research team.
