Brief Intro

Dr. Kuo specializes in the surgical and non-surgical treatment of all spinal maladies in both children and adults. She treats the entire spine from the neck to the low back, from scoliosis to spinal stenosis, neck pain to back pain, chronic to acute nerve pain. She believes preventative care for spinal pain is very important in avoiding chronic back pain secondary to degeneration and poor spinal support. Many people, even those who exercise regularly, do not spend enough time on their core musculature to support their spine and thus avoid chronic treatable back pain. Dr. Kuo has been trained and utilizes a wide variety of leading edge and traditional surgical techniques including minimally-invasive techniques to speed recovery time and return to regular activity for her patients. Dr. Kuo attended Dartmouth College where she received her undergraduate degree. She chose to attend Rush Medical College not only because it is a fantastic school but also because it had a more holistic tract that taught thinking and not just memorization. She then completed her orthopedic residency at Rush University in Chicago and her spinal surgery fellowship at the University of Texas in Houston. As a child, Dr. Kuo grew up with a physician father who was the inspiration for her interest in medicine. He would show her x-rays and tell her of the amazing things he was able to do to help children and adults walk and function again. This certainly sparked her interest in doing the same. Dr. Kuo is a member of the North American Spine Society, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and is currently the Vice-President of the North American Taiwanese Medical Association. In her spare time she loves to spend time with her two daughters. She also loves arts, music, fine dining, and cooking. To balance that she also runs, walks, cycles, skis, and plays tennis. Dr. Kuo included in list of outstanding spinal surgeons.
