He has also served on the boards of Prevent Blindness-Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Optometric Association, demonstrating his commitment to advancing eye health on a broader scale.Originally from Seymour, Wisconsin, Dr. Melchert pursued his pre-professional training at Ripon College and several campuses of the University of Wisconsin before earning his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1978.
