Dr. Phaniraj Iyengar is the Medical Director for the Sunrise Stroke Center at the Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center, Las Vegas, Nevada. He moved to Las Vegas in May 2014. Prior to joining Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center, Dr. Iyengar served as the Medical Director of the Carolinas Stroke Center from 2011-2014. Prior to joining the Carolinas Healthcare System in 2011, Dr. Iyengar served as the Medical Center of the Stroke Center at Saint Francis from 2007 to 2010. Prior to joining Saint Francis, he served as the Director of the North Valley Stroke Center at North Valley Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, Sacramento and Roseville, California and was with TPMG Inc from 2002-2007. Dr. Iyengar is a graduate in Medicine from the University of Mumbai, India. His training included a one-year compulsory rotating internship, followed by training in surgery and neurosurgery in India and then in the United Kingdom, before moving to the United States in 1995. Dr. Iyengar then served an internship at the Hospital of Saint Raphael, New Haven, and a two-year preliminary surgical residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, New Hyde Park, N.Y. He also completed a neurology residency at the University of California Davis Medical Center, Sacramento, California, followed by a one-year fellowship in neurovascular and stroke medicine at the Barrow Neurological Institute at Saint Joseph Hospital and Medical Center, Phoenix. Dr. Iyengar is board certified in Neurology and Vascular Neurology by ABPN and in Neuroimaging by UCNS and in Healthcare Quality by ABQUARP. Dr. Iyengar is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, American Stroke Association, The Neurocritical Care Society , American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the American Association of Physicians of India, ABQUARP and the Royal Society of Medicine.
