Peter was born at Sparrow Hospital and grew up in East Lansing. After graduating from the University of Michigan, first he worked on the Michigan Governor's Staff and then for the U.S. Congress. He returned to Michigan were he graduated from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and completed his residency training at Sparrow Hospital. He is married and has three children, who he enjoys enormously. He and his wife also enjoy sailing, music and the outdoors.
