Dr. Peter Hartmann is a board-certified general surgeon who brings nearly 25 years of private surgical practice to the role of Medical Director. He has had a special interest in breast surgery for decades, and was one of the pioneers in the use of sentinel node biopsy in New England in the 1990s. Now as a dedicated breast surgeon, he focuses exclusively on a variety of breast procedures related to the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. Dr. Hartmann is an active physician leader and previously served on the hospital's Board of Trustees, acted as past president of the Medical Staff and former chief of surgery. He was also the driving force behind the establishment of the Level III Trauma Center at Anna Jaques and actively participates in the ongoing recertification of the center.
