Pamela Thomas, MD, joined Lutheran Medical Group in July 2009 but has worked as a pediatric endocrinologist and diabetes specialist at Lutheran Children's Hospital since her arrival in Fort Wayne in 2000. Before joining St. Joseph Medical Group in 2002, she was a pediatric endocrinologist with Pediatric Specialty Physicians in Fort Wayne. Before that, she served as the director of pediatric diabetes and insulin pump programs at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where she was also an assistant professor in the pediatrics department. Dr. Thomas, who is board certified in pediatrics, earned a bachelor's degree in biochemistry from Michigan State University in East Lansing in 1982, and she earned a medical degree from Wayne State University College of Medicine in Detroit in 1986. Dr. Thomas completed a pediatric internship/residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md., in 1989, and she was a fellow in pediatric endocrinology at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, Developmental Endocrinology Branch, in Bethsda, Md. In 1994, she was a postdoctoral fellow in molecular endocrinology at MD Anderson Cancer Center and Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, where she also served as a research associate.
