Obonoruma (Obos) I. Ekhaese is a proud alumnus of San Jacinto College South and The University of Houston. Dr. Ekhaese attended Western University of Health Sciences - Pomona, CA, and received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree in 2000. In June of 2005, Dr. Ekhaese completed his residency at a Michigan State University-affiliated hospital, Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital Medical Center, (now McLaren Oakland). Seeking to specialize in advanced laparoscopic surgery and bariatric surgery, he completed his 1-year fellowship at the University of Texas at Houston, Minimal Invasive Surgeons of Texas, (MIST at HCA Houston Northwest Medical Center) in June 2009.Dr. Ekhaese joined the staff at John Sealy Hospital Galveston in July 2009 and was part of a highly successful Center of Excellence Bariatric program, Center of Obesity and Metabolic Surgery; while being Faculty, Assistant Professor, at The University of Texas Medical Branch. He held the same position at The University of Texas Health at Houston from February 2017 till August 2019, while serving in the role of Regional Residency Director and Assistant Director of their burgeoning Academic Global Surgery ProgramHe is currently the CEO of his own private practice, C.A.R.E. Clinic where he performs a vast number of surgeries, including surgical treatment for weight loss, general Surgery, as well as robotic surgery.
