Neil B. Griffin, M.D., specializes in cataract, LASIK and corneal surgery. Dr. Griffin is a pioneer in endokeratoplasty, a new type of corneal transplantation technique. He has presented study results and his technique to surgeons in both the United States and abroad. As an Ophthalmologist leader in the field he continues to instruct corneal surgeons on the latest advancements. Dr. Griffin was one of the first in the country to use the FDA approved Zepto™ Capsulotomy System which provides lens capsulotomy during cataract surgery. He is also the first in South Carolina to offer the latest advancement in laser vision technology (LVC) with SMILE which is the latest in advancement of LVC, providing LASIK-like outcomes. In 2016 he was named one of the Top Cataract Surgeons by Precision Eye Services, voted "Best Laser Vision Surgeon" by the community in the South Strand News Readers Choice Award 2018 and voted "Best Ophthalmologist and Laser Vision Surgeon" by the Myrtle Beach Herald Readers Choice Award 2019. Dr. Griffin received his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He served his internship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., and completed his residency at the University of Maryland in Baltimore. He received his highly-specialized fellowship in cornea and external disease from the University of Texas in Houston. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is also a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
