Brief Intro

Dr. Natalie Carr, DDS, MS Dr. Carr was born in Argentina (her mother’s homeland) and moved to Tennessee (her father’s hometown) when she was 3 years old.   At the age of 11, her family moved to Apollo Beach where she attended Eisenhower Junior High and East Bay High School. Having strong lineage of dentists in her family, she knew from an early age that she wanted to pursue dentistry.   She began her endeavor at the University of South Florida where she majored in Chemistry.  After only two years of College, She applied to dental school for early admission without a degree.  Due to her high academic achievements she was one of the few students admitted into dental school without a bachelor’s degree.  Dr. Carr attended dental school at Northwestern University in Chicago, one of the top dental schools in the country.   Not wanting to give up her bachelor’s degree, Dr. Carr completed the classes needed to obtain a Bachelors of Arts degree while at Northwestern transferring back the credits to obtain a BA degree in Interdisciplinary Sciences in Chemistry from the University of South Florida.  While at Northwestern University, Dr. Carr volunteered at the Saturday Morning People’s Clinic, a clinic for low income families to receive dental care for their children.  There began her passion for working with young children.  She was then selected by the faculty as one of four students from her class to work in an externship in Colorado.  While in Colorado she worked at the Fort Lumpston Community Health Clinic as a dentist for the migrant farm workers children.   Dr. Carr graduated from Northwestern University Dental School in 1997 receiving the highest number of honors. International College of Dentists Student Award -Award for the most professional growth during the years of dental study at Northwestern University. American Society of Dentistry for Children - Award for great interest and proficiency in the care of young patients.  American Association of Public Health Dentistry’s Student Recognition Award - Award for outstanding achievement in community dentistry and dental public health. Northwestern University Dental School Alumni Award- Award given by the alumni association for outstanding service to the school. Delta Dental Student Recognition Award -Award for outstanding record keeping. Dr. Carr then continued her studies at the University of Texas, Houston finishing her two year Residency program in Pediatric Dentistry.  Here she served as chief resident during her second year.  After finishing her Certificate program, Dr. Carr decided to stay a third year to complete the necessary classes and Master’s thesis  to obtain a Masters  in Pediatric Dentistry receiving a Master’s of Science in Oral Biology. Dr. Carr received her board certification in 2006.  Dr. Carr moved back home to the Tampa area in 2002 practicing in the Tampa and Brandon area.  She has been active in organized dentistry serving on and chairing numerous committees involving access to care for the underserved population including President of Florida’s Project Dentist’s Care2008, Hillsborough County Dental Association Give Kids a Smile, Smile Fridays, Children’ s Dental Health Month.  Her most recent leadership positions include: ·        President of the Florida Academy of Pediatric Dentistry 2009-2010 ·        Hillsborough County Dental Association President 2010-2011. Dr. Carr’s passion is dentistry.  She dedicates her time and talent to the delivery of dental care emphasizing on education.    She educated post graduate dental students from the University of Florida Dental School at their Advanced General Dentistry Residency program while it was in Tampa and served as a faculty member supervising students on a dental mission trip to Guatemala.    Dr. Carr also participated in a dental mission trip to Peru after their earthquake in 2006 treating children in extreme poverty.   She volunteers on the University of South Florida Ronald McDonald Van providing dental screenings and limited e
