Dr. Edelman joined the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health Care System in May 2005, and has broad interest and expertise in the field of pediatric pathology. Dr. Edelman is a Native of South Africa and graduated as a physician from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg in 1989. After a one year rotating clinical internship in South Africa in 1990, he worked as a physician in emergency rooms, and military clinic in 1991. In 1992 Dr. Edelman arrived in New York. He completed a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine (June 1996) and a fellowship in cytopathology at Montefiore Medical Center (MMC), Bronx (June 1997). Prior to arriving at Long Island Jewish Medical Center (LIJ) in 2005, Dr. Edelman worked as an attending pathologist at Jacobi Medical Center, Bronx (July 1997 January 1998), followed by Montefiore Medical center (MMC, Bronx from February 1998 September 2001), and then Winthrop University Hospital (WUH), Mineola (October, 2001 April 2005). As a junior attending pathologist at MMC, Dr. Edelman developed an interest in pediatric pathology, and was subsequently responsible for pediatric pathology at MMC, WUH and now Schneider Children Hospital / LIJ. One year prior to leaving WUH Dr. Edelman became head of the immunohistochemistry laboratory at WUH hospital. Dr. Edelman is currently responsible for pediatric surgical pathology at Schneider Childrens hospital. Dr. Edelman is involved in all aspects of pediatric and adult surgical pathology clinical diagnostic services, pediatric autopsy pathology, and teaching pathology to pathology and non-pathology pediatric residents/fellows.
