Brief Intro

Welcome to my Web page. I'm happy I have a chance to introduce myself to you. Biography I was born in New Haven, Connecticut, and raised in Spain for the first seven years of my life; then we moved to Puerto Rico. My father, an obstetrician, was an inspiration to me because of his commitment to his patients. While in medical school I realized that surgical specialties not only offer an intellectual challenge, but also allow the surgeon to help the patient in a very tangible way. This realization led to my study of ophthalmology. After my fellowships, I worked for over two years in the Middle East and then joined Miami's prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute as associate professor of clinical ophthalmology. About my practice I enjoy diversity among the people I work with and treat. While I was working in Miami I was involved in clinical work, taught ophthalmology residents, and participated in lectures all over Central and South America. Here at Kaiser Permanente in Woodland Hills, I have the opportunity to work with patients of different ages, backgrounds, and ethnicities. My subspecialties, pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus, encompass problems that affect all ages. I like working with both kids and adults. I feel that Kaiser Permanente makes it easy for me to treat patients as I think is best, since I can focus on the art of medicine while others focus on the administrative aspects of my practice. How I thrive I try to keep a balance between work and personal life. I like to spend time with my son , read, and do some gardening. When we have a chance, we travel.
