My name is Michele LaBotz, and I have been caring for athletes at all levels of participation since 1997. I initially trained in pediatrics before I completed my sports medicine fellowship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I subsequently served as a team physician, as well as assistant professor and associate director of the sports medicine fellowship at the University of Hawaii. In 2006 my family and I returned to Maine, where I began my private practice career at InterMeds sports medicine clinic. Im currently a member of the national executive committee for the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Council on Sports Medicine and Fitness. Im particularly interested in the principles of exercise training, injury prevention, nutrition and supplement use, and I speak nationally on a variety of topics concerning the young athlete. My most recent publications include the sports nutrition chapters for both the AAPs Pediatric Nutrition Handbook and Care of the Young Athlete.
