Dr. Cannon, a native of Wichita, graduated from Wichita State University and received his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine - Wichita in 1975. He was a resident for two years in pathology, and subsequently completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Kansas School of Medicine - Wichita. After a fellowship at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, he returned to Kansas as a Fellow in Medical Oncology at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City. Dr. Cannon is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and also by the Subspecialty Board, of Medical Oncology.
Dr. Cannon entered private practice in Wichita in 1982, and joined the Cancer Center of Kansas in 1986. Dr. Cannon is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Kansas School of Medicine - Wichita and a member of the Wichita Community Clinical Oncology Program (WCCOP), a National Cancer Institute-sponsored research program. He is a member of the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the Southwest Oncology Group, and the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project.
