Dr. Harbut is an internationally-known expert in the diagnosis and treatment of environmental and workplace diseases. He is the co-author of the world's largest study of respiratory health in asbestos-exposed ironworkers and is co-author of the American Thoracic Society's 2004 "Recommendations for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Non-Malignant Disease Caused by Asbestos Exposure." Dr. Harbut is Section Chief of the Occupational and Environmental Medicine section in the Department of Internal Medicine at St. John Providence Hospital. Along with his expertise in asbestos-related diseases he also specializes in mold exposures and other illnesses caused by environmental toxins and poisons.
Dr. Harbut was recognized by his peers as one of the area's most respected occupational medicine specialists in Hour Detroit magazine's "Top Docs" rankings for 2007 and 2008.
